With both the Missouri Botanical Garden and Tower Grove Park literally in Shaw’s backyard, residents and visitors have the opportunity to jog the pathways of the city’s 2nd largest park, play tennis at a first class tennis club, take the kids to terrific playgrounds, picnic at nearly 150-year old pavilions, enjoy picturesque gardens, attend free concerts and have brunch surrounded by historic fountains and lush ponds. Within Shaw itself are the Shaw Dog Park, award winning public and private schools, restaurants, a bakery, a wine bar and many other small businesses.
Shaw has a wide range of housing, rental and commercial building stock, primary built between 1880 and 1930. From Georgian to English Tudor, Arts and Crafts to Romanesque – the commonalities are sturdy, mostly brick construction coupled with fine craftsmanship seen in the art glass, hardwood floors and ornate millwork. Each property reflects the architecture of its time reminding us of the fine art of construction from a century ago.
